Wondering how the pandemic has impacted the Salt Lake City housing market? The answer may surprise you! Though the pandemic has been challenging, the housing marketing has continued to blossom in the second half of 2020.
With historically low interest rates across the board, new and existing homeowners can have the chance to get more home for their money. In addition, people are spending more time at home than ever before. Homeowners are getting an up-close look at the things in their homes that are no longer functional or are simply in need of an update.
Despite a high performing market in the Salt Lake City area, there are some challenges. Though there is a demand for work, the construction industry is experiencing a labor shortage throughout the United States. The labor shortage adds about 60 days to the average project timeline. There have also been disruptions in supply chains, causing longer lead times when it comes to materials like appliances, ceramic tiles, and roof and floor trusses.
That being said, Ironwood Custom Builders remains committed to providing exceptional customer service and craftsmanship during each and every project. Our team makes it a point to communicate effectively, as well as taking extra precautions for improved safety.
Custom Home Building in Salt Lake City
New custom homes are very popular in high-demand neighborhoods. Our team has seen a great influx of lot recycling recently as well. This is largely due to the rising cost of land in Salt Lake City and the surrounding area. Tearing down an existing home and building a new custom home on the land is an extremely viable option for homeowners.
A great example of a lot recycling project is the Schaecher Residence, a teardown custom home rebuild we’ve been working on in Holladay, Utah. The Schaecher’s worked with a local designer to design and plan their dream home for three years. In June, they were finally ready for us to proceed with tearing down the property’s existing home. Our team has made a lot of progress on this project since then. You can see the evolution of this project using the links below.

Home Remodeling in Salt Lake City
Demand for remodeling and home additions has also remained steady throughout 2020. Many homeowners have opted for phased remodeling rather than a traditional remodel. This allows them to complete projects according to their budget and without disrupting life at home too much.
Ironwood Custom Builders is currently working on the Fergusson Residence, a phased remodeling project in Bountiful, Utah. The Fergussons loved the bones and location of their home but knew that it could benefit from an update. So, we’ve been working in stages to remodel the main and upper levels of their home. We’re also in the process of adding a new garage addition, which will have a luxurious master suite located above it. Use the links below to see the progress on the Fergusson Residence.
