Events in Salt Lake City this September

The kids are back in school, or will be soon, and that means summer has come to an end. However, just because summer is over doesn’t mean there aren’t a lot of great events in Salt Lake this September. From the Downtown Yoga Festival to the Utah State Fair, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Get out there and be a part of this great area. Before too long summer will just be a faint memory.

Salt Lake Comic Con 2016

Salt Lake Comic Con is now the most attended conventions in the state of Utah and the largest comic con in North America per capita. With celebrity guest panels, autograph signings, photo ops, gaming competitions, cosplay contests and KidCon, there is something for everyone.

Take Care Utah Hispanic Heritage Parade and Festival
When: September 3^rd, 2016

Take Care Utah is excited to announce Utah’s first annual Hispanic Heritage Parade and Street Festival. The event, celebrating National Hispanic Heritage Month, will take place from 9:00AM – 2:30PM on September 3rd at The Gateway. The event will feature participants from local businesses and community organizations including Telemundo, Real Salt Lake, and the Salt Lake City Mayor’s office.

This free event will feature an exciting community parade, a contest to win Juan Gabriel concert tickets, food vendors, local artisans, dance performances, live music, and other family friendly entertainment.

Downtown Yoga Festival

Utah State Fair
When: September 8^th – 18^th, 2016

This year’s Utah State Fair will be happening September 8-18, 2016. The Fair starts the first Thursday after Labor Day and lasts 10 days. Events includes Grandstand Shows, Arena Events, Barrel Racing, Kids Activities, and much more!

Avenues Street Fair
When: September 10^th, 2016
Where: 6^th Avenue between I and N Streets
Salt Lake City, UT

The Avenues Street Fair is held annually on the second Saturday of September. The fair spans five blocks and features live entertainment at each end. Fair attendance is free to all. The Fair features and celebrates local talent and artistry. In addition, local food vendors, non-profit organizations and small businesses take the opportunity to be known in the community.

Oktoberfest 2016

Each year in September Grace Lutheran Church and School in Sandy Utah celebrates Oktoberfest with a full day of family fun.  German Food, Beer, Entertainment and Vendors will be available throughout the day. The public is welcome and admission is free.

Oktoberfest helps support the many missions of Grace Lutheran Church and School, including the Utah Food Bank and the Salt Lake Rescue Mission.

Fall Bulb and Native Plant Sale

Enhance your home garden by supporting Red Butte Garden’s Bulb & Native Plant Sale! Fall is not only a great time to plant, it is THE time to plant garlic, shallots, and spring flowering bulbs. The fall sale offers an exciting selection of spring flowering bulbs for a variety of garden situations, including water-wise, dry shady nooks, borders, naturalizing, rodent resistance and indoor forcing! Our organic garlic bulbs includes a variety of choices from mild to spicy! Several Garden favorites will be available. We will also have a great selection of native and water-wise plants, as well as ornamental grasses and flowering perennials. Fall is a great time to view the ornamental grasses in the Garden and see how these plants will look in your yard! Staff and volunteers will be available to answer questions and assist you with plant selection. All proceeds benefit the horticulture and education programs at Red Butte Garden.
