Fall is here and there are plenty of great events in Salt Lake City this October to enjoy before the weather gets cold. There’s still time to get your home buttoned up for the winter months. Witchfest

Octoberfest

Oktoberfest at Snowbird is a family-friendly affair with activities, food, and, of course, brews for days — weeks actually. The highly-anticipated festival begins each August and lasts through October, taking place every Saturday, Sunday, and Labor Day. It’s probably the greatest beer festival Utah has to offer, so don’t miss out!

Fix-It Clinic

Need something fixed? Volunteer Fix-It Coaches consult with you on the disassembly, troubleshooting and repair of your item.

We’ll provide workspace, specialty tools and guidance to help you troubleshoot your item. Whether it’s fixable or not, you’ll learn how it was made and how it worked.

Common repairs we see include sewing loose hems, broken zippers, popped seams; repairing wobbly chair or table legs; fixing household appliance and electronics.

This event is free and open to the public in partnership with the Utah Recycling Alliance.

Pumpkin Nights

Pumpkin Nights was founded in 2016 at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds with a mission to showcase local artists, and celebrate the most magical time of year without the spooks and scares. Now, Pumpkin Nights runs through the month of October in four different cities across the US.

At PUMPKIN NIGHTS, you will venture along a half-mile walking path, where you’ll discover the Forbidden Pumpkin City, a pirate’s cove, and more fantastical lands built using over 3,000 hand-carved real and artificial pumpkins. The celebration continues with entertainment and games in Pumpkin Central, our central festival area.

ARToberFest

Cool mornings, colorful leaves, and pumpkin spice flavored everything can only mean one thing — autumn has arrived. To celebrate the season, Kimball Art Center is hosting a fall-inspired, family friendly, art-filled event.

ARToberFest will be held on Saturday, October 13th, from 1-5PM at Kimball Art Center. The event includes a number of activities, like a paint your own pumpkin patch, leaf printmaking projects, trick or treat bag decorating, ceramics demonstrations, interactive tours of the Kimball’s latest exhibition, live music, a beer, and wine garden, and more.

The guided gallery tours explore Kimball Art Center’s current exhibition, Body & Soul, which showcases the work of 24 Utah-based artists. Tours begin at 2pm and 4pm during the ARToberFest festivities.

Harvest Festival
When: October 13th, 2018
Where: Wasatch Charter School

Families can participate on hands-on activities, enjoy live performances, and shop local vendors. Start your holiday shopping early by visiting more than 30 local artisans on site. Visitors will find art, homemade goods, learning materials, and more. You can also drop off your purchases at the gift wrapping station. This day will also include a community bake sale, coffee/hot chocolate by Sugar House Coffee, and lunch options.

Little Haunts
When: October 27th, 2018
Where: This is the Place Heritage Park

It’s not scary at the Park during the day, so put on your costumes and come to the Village for a fun-filled event! Visit the Story Telling Witch, go trick-or-treating, and with pony rides, train rides and take-home crafts your little ones will want to return for Little Haunts year after year! Make it part of your family’s Halloween tradition.

Scarecrow Festival
When: October 15th– 20th, 2018
Where: Ashton Gardens

Join us this fall in the Ashton Gardens for the Scarecrow Festival. Enjoy the beautiful autumn colors in the expansive 55-acre gardens and dozens of imaginative scarecrows built and submitted by the community.  This week long festival will also feature fun outdoor games, crafts, music and yummy food! Festival is included with regular garden admission and FREE for Thanksgiving Point Members.
